The past two weeks I have taken it easy.  My upper calf was hurting at the speed workout I did with the cabanillas group (a week and a half ago).  Nothing too alarming but Demetrio told me that if it was a muscle problem I could massage it and it would go away, otherwise it might be a bone problem.  I did massage it and it seemed to get worse.  I went on a road trip with some friends last week so I took some time off during that.  This past week I have done a some light running with more cross training.  Today was my first day to start running more miles.  Hopefully next week I can be back in the groove.

Some thoughts on this injury and on others you've had before. I would try a very long base-building phase. No speed, no tempos, no strides. Just run easy for 4 months, try to get in as much volume as possible without feeling at the risk of injury. This should give your body a chance to heal and strengthen gradually. Then start throwing in strides and tempos.
